My professional experience includes research and consultancy with think tanks, government organizations, and universities. I have also worked as a scriptwriter and news producer for both print and media news broadcasting. My writing and stories have appeared in The Funambulist, Middle East Monitor, TRT World, Al-Shabaka Network, and The New York Times, as well as in peer-reviewed journals such as Society and Space and The Jerusalem Quarterly.

My previous research agenda focused on critical security studies and state-sanctioned violence in settler colonial geographies like Palestine and Canada. My Ph.D. research investigates how the Arab world is connecting transnationally to the world in the city of Istanbul since the regional uprisings in 2011. In my dissertation, I research how Arab migrants from across the region make sense of their contemporary lives through narratives of belonging that marry together stories of the past, present, and future. Rooted in ethnographic research, I study social relations and human mobility through the lenses of relationality, belonging, and opacity.

I navigate the world in Arabic, English, French, and Turkish. Recently trying to add Farsi, albeit with a little clumsy.

I hope to share my teaching portfolio and research agenda through this website. I also want a place to share my love for the city of Istanbul through my photography.
